Life on the Screen

The Pseudo-NYM team has been paying attention to online privacy for quite a long time.  Many of our careers in cyber security started because of our concerns with privacy on the Internet.  And our service is based on wanting to have some separation between our real world identities and our identities on the Internet.

The concept of separate identities is well documented, with the best analysis performed by Sherry Turkle in her book, Life on the Screen: Identity in the Age of the Internet.  This book was prescient in its analysis and conclusion that we often want to be different people on the Internet - different from our real world identities.  That can be both for privacy reasons but also role playing (think Gamertags).
